How do I send my scans to you to convert or colorize?
The Short Answer
Canvas comes with a built-in Scan To CAD service, which allows you to submit your scans directly via the Canvas app to be converted into various CAD formats.
Submitting your scans via the Canvas app is a fast and simple process:
- Press the "Scan To CAD" button (screen shot below).
- Select the scans (and file type) that you want converted.
- Enter your email address (where you want the files to be delivered),
- Pay with your credit card or Apple Pay.
- Receive your CAD files at the email you entered, within about 2 business days (occasionally 3 days for a merge order).
The Long Answer
Step 1: Choose the Scan To CAD button in the upper right hand corner.
Step 2: Select the scans you would like to submit to the Scan To CAD service.
Step 3: Select the CAD format you desire for your order.

NEW IN CANVAS 1.7: REPROCESS ONLY
Cloud reprocessing has always been included with any Scan To CAD order (and the results sent back to your iPad), but it is now available for only $3 per scan as a standalone service. This is great if you just want the best possible scans, but don't need a full CAD model.
To order cloud reprocessing for a given scan (or scans) without ordering a full CAD model, simply select "Reprocess Only" and skip to step 5 below. Reprocessed scans will include a .mtl and .jpg file (for texture) along with the .obj for the mesh, but it will not include any CAD files (e.g. .skp, .dwg, .rvt, etc). Important: if you are using the reprocessed scans outside of the Canvas app, you will need to keep the .mtl and .jpg files in the same folder as the .obj file.
Step 4: Choose whether you would like them processed individually (as single CAD files for each scan), or if you would like them merged into a global model of all chosen scans.
Please note that scans submitted as a merged order are $5 more per scan, and can occasionally take up slightly longer to process (you can see more details regarding merge orders here).
Step 5: Review your ordered scans and order priority.
Normal Priority: Your files should be delivered within an estimated 2 business days for single scans, or 3 business days for a merge order (though often they are still turned around within 2 business days).
Rush: Your order will effectively skip the line, and we can often turn these around within 24 hours (note: there will be an additional $5 charge per scan). Delivery within 48 hours is guaranteed or the rush fee is returned.
The final steps are to input your email address and payment information.
Upon submitting your order, you will receive an email confirmation indicating that your order is uploading. To ensure your order is processed as fast as possible, please keep the app open, your iPad on, and connected to the Internet while your uploads complete.
When your order is finished uploading you will receive another confirmation to show that your order is in progress.
We'll take it from there! We will send back your CAD files as soon as they are available.
